Τα Ιαπωνικά σφενδάμια (Άτσερ) είναι το ‘crème de la crème’ κάθε κήπου. Ένα μαγευτικό φυτό που δεν χρειάζεται κλάδεμα και που αφήνεται να σχηματίσει μόνο του το δικό του ιδιαίτερο σχήμα.

Η 'Starfish' είναι μια από τις ομορφότερες ποικιλίες χάρη στο μοναδικό σχήμα των φύλλων του και το έντονο κόκκινο χρωματισμό τους.

Με μέγιστο ύψος τα 2μ αποτελεί εξαιρετική επιλογή για κάθε κήπο καθώς και για φύτευση σε διακοσμητικές γλάστρες.

Φροντίδα

Όπως όλα τα Acer, χρειάζεται το χώμα του να είναι συνεχώς υγρό, με καλή αποστράγγιση, ουδέτερο προς όξινο. Προτιμά θέσεις με σκιά αλλά τους καλύτερους χρωματισμούς τους παίρνει σε θέσεις με ήλιο. Αγαπά τις θέσεις με υψηλή ατμοσφαιρική υγρασία αλλά δεν είναι απαραίτητο για τη σωστή και υγιή ανάπτυξη του.

It is…Acer Palmatum Starfish.

Red is the most intense colour we can think of. It stands for passion and warmth. No wonder Starfish draws so much attention. In summer its foliage becomes dark red, followed by a dazzling bright red colour in autumn.

This Acer has deeply incised leaves and an elegant, compact and upright habit.

Starfish prefers airy, well-drained, lightly acidic soil. Performs well in full sun to semi-shade.

It grows to 200 cm high and 75 cm wide. Starfish is disease-tolerant and can resist cold temperatures to -22° Celsius.

Starfish is excellent as solitary plant, in shrub borders, in mixed containers and for landscaping.

And the award for “Maple with Most Star Quality” goes to… Acer palmatum Starfish!

We must talk about those leaves! Each long, slender blade curls in at the edges, creating a plump, cushioned effect in the shape of a star. This happens on the older leaves, which means your tree will become more unique and interesting as it ages!

History

This particular tree was selected from a seedling bed at Vergeldt Nursery in The Netherlands around 15 years ago. While looking over the entire bed, the breeder spotted the tree for its unique leaf form – that sensational starfish shape!

After running tests over several years with the grafted trees, the breeder decided to introduce it to suppliers.
