The modern, powdery mildew-resistant blackcurrants in particular usually grow quite vigorously and easily grow to a height of 2m. 

With "Little Black Sugar" we have found a compact variety that combines resistance to mildew, large and very sweet fruits with a growth of up to 100cm. This means that the blackcurrant is now also becoming a patio plant...

The black currant Lowbery® Little Black Sugar not only grows compactly, it is also very bushy and well-branched. 

Every year 2-3 older shoots should also be completely removed in order to stimulate new shoots that always bring the best fruit quality. 

'Little Black Sugar' is also resistant to powdery mildew. The medium-sized to large fruits on rather small bunches are very sweet; the typical cassis aroma is present, but clearly overshadowed by the sugar. 
 

• Growth: compact, 80 cm to 1 m; 'Little Black Sugar' is also resistant to powdery mildew, with a healthy leaf
• Maturity: early, still in June
• Fruit: medium-sized to large fruits on rather small bunches. The berries can also be harvested and feasted on individually
• taste: very sweet; the typical cassis aroma is present, but clearly overshadowed by the sugar. Ha, really almost like sweet camouflaged medicine ;-)
