A bold exclamation mark in the landscape, Pinus nigra ‘Green Tower’ (Austrian Pine) is a sturdy evergreen conifer of columnar habit, adorned with the lush foliage of rich, dark green needles.
Borne in bundles of two, they persist for 4-7 years on the tree. Slow-growing, 4-6 in. per year (10-15 cm), this lovely narrow Austrian Pine is perfect for tight spaces and small gardens. Makes an excellent specimen, screen, or windbreak.
- Grows up to 240 cm tall and 45 cm wide after 10 years.
- Performs best in full sun in moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates clay soils, urban pollution, salt, and drought once established. Thrives better than other pines in chalky soils.
