Picea pungens 'Blue Diamond' even serves as an alternative to more traditional Christmas trees – planted in a container on the patio its silvery needles look fabulous under tree lights.

Mature trees develop pale brown cones in the autumn and the blue colour of the foliage intensifies with age.
