Echeveria subsessilis - Ετσεβέρια
Συνώνυμο: Echeveria desmetiana
Οικογένεια:Crassulaceae
Διάμετρος γλάστρας:10.5εκ.
English
One of the most elegant and delicate succulents, Echeveria subsessilis has thick, stalkless rosettes that reach only 10 cm in diameter but fascinate for their harmonious colors.
It consists of ovate leaves with sharply pointed apex, not very large and often slightly upwards. The epidermis assumes a wonderful gray-bluish tone, made opaque by a kind of pruina that covers it completely to protect it from the natural agents.
When properly exposed to sunlight, the margins of this plant fade towards a delicate pink or violet. It’s perfectly in harmony with the soft pink-orange colors of the small flowers that, in summer, will bloom at the apex of long stems.
Care
- It requires a lot of light throughout the year, however, avoid direct sunlight especially during the hottest hours of the day.
- It is preferable to keep it at mild temperatures and never below 10 °C, for this reason it is recommended to shelter it during the winter period.
- Water moderately but only when the soil is completely dry. It is enough to water the plant once a week in spring and summer and suspend watering completely in autumn and winter.
- The best soil is a well draining one, for example formed by a mixture of peat and pumice so that the water does not stagnate.
- They do not need frequent fertilization, it is sufficient to dilute the fertilizer with watering once a year.
