Brighamia insignis is an accepted species in the Campanulaceae family. Its scientific name was published in 1867, and it represents a distinctive part of Hawaiʻi's endemic flora.

Native range

Its documented native range is restricted to Kauaʻi and Niʻihau. It historically occupied rocky ledges and steep sea cliffs where soil and available water are limited.

Conservation status

Recent National Tropical Botanical Garden accounts state that scientists now believe B. insignis is extinct in the wild. Seed banks and living botanical collections preserve valuable genetic material.
