A ready-to-use, peat-free and bioactive mix with a gritty structure for cacti and succulents. Its high proportion of perlite and pumice, together with horticultural sand, speeds drainage and keeps air around the roots, while coco coir, worm castings and organic nutrients provide controlled moisture and nutrition for approximately 180 days.

Composition

A gritty composition with a high proportion of mineral materials

Perlite, pumice and horticultural sand create fast drainage and stable air spaces, while the smaller organic base holds only the necessary moisture.

The base of the mix

1 part coco coir, 1 part worm castings, 3.5 parts perlite, 3 parts pumice and 0.5 part horticultural sand, with small amounts of activated carbon and lava gravel, plus organic nutrients.

1 part coco coir: Holds controlled moisture for a short period.
1 part worm castings: Adds bioactive organic matter and gradual nutrition.
3.5 parts perlite: Creates many air spaces and speeds the release of water.
3 parts pumice: Provides a porous, stable structure with limited moisture retention.
0.5 parts horticultural sand: Improves water flow and the gritty texture of the mix.
Small amount activated carbon: Supports a cleaner root environment.
Small amount lava gravel: Adds structural stability and extra pore space.
Added organic nutrients: Complete the nutrition for approximately 180 days.

Repotting steps

Use & repotting

A ready mix for cacti, succulents and other dry-loving species

Use it straight from the package in a pot with adequate drainage holes. After watering, allow the mix to dry fully before watering again.

01Remove the old potting mix

Take the plant out carefully and remove as much old material as comes away without damaging the roots.

02Add a base layer

Place some Cacti & Succulent Mix in the bottom and position the plant at the correct height.

03Fill without firm pressure

Fill around the roots and tap the pot lightly so the gritty mix settles without compaction.

04Water thoroughly and drain

Wet the whole mix evenly and let all excess water drain fully through the holes.

Thorough watering, followed by full drying

Do not give small amounts of water on a fixed calendar. Water evenly once the mix has dried fully and always let excess water drain away.
