Your legal guarantee rights

What does the legal guarantee mean for plants?

The legal guarantee concerns the plant’s conformity at delivery. It is not a guarantee of survival or growth for two years. Each issue is assessed taking into account the nature of the plant, its care and the conditions in which it is kept. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Sedum 'Kent Belle'

“I have no room” was before you two met 🪴

Family: Crassulaceae · Pot diameter: 9cm · Height: 10cm

Crassulaceae
Lime foliage
Slender fleshy leaves
Dense branching
Bright position

Sedum 'Kent Belle' brings a bright yellow-green accent that makes a whole plant corner feel more lively. Slender, pointed, fleshy leaves clothe its stems densely, gathering into small radiating clusters at the tips. From a distance it looks like a soft lime cushion; close up, it reveals a whole tangle of delicate green lines.

Its charm lies in the texture: lots of tiny details come together in a full, airy outline, with the outer stems reaching gently away from the centre. Beside more orderly rosettes or darker foliage, it adds a relaxed touch to the arrangement. Suddenly, “just one more plant” starts to sound perfectly reasonable.

What makes it special

Colour, fine texture and a crowd of little growing tips give this succulent a presence that catches the eye even among larger plants.

A bright lime accent

Yellow-green foliage creates a clear splash of colour. It looks especially striking against dark ceramics, natural terracotta and deeper shades of green.

Detail right to the tips

Narrow, pointed leaves repeat along the stems and gather at their tips, giving the outline a fine, almost needle-like texture.

A full centre, a loose outline

Numerous branches fill out the pot visually, while the outer stems add movement. The effect feels natural and unforced, like a little green tuft with a mind of its own.

Why you’ll love it: its bright colour and airy texture make a small spot in your collection feel very well used.

In your space Placement & plant pairings Where to place it and which plants complement it

In your space

Where it looks its best

Choose a very bright windowsill with gentle morning sun, or a sheltered balcony in mild weather. Introduce direct exposure gradually and provide shade from intense midday sun while it settles in. A simple matt pot lets the lime foliage take centre stage. Keep it protected from frost and persistent rain.

Plant pairings

Plants to pair it with

Build a bright corner with succulents that use an airy mix and dry between waterings. Keep each plant in its own pot, checking moisture separately and adjusting watering whenever its growth slows. Choose a position protected from frost for the whole arrangement.

Echeveria elegans — compact silvery-green rosettes bring calm geometry beside the fine lime lines.
Graptopetalum paraguayense — more open rosettes and grey-green tones create a gentle transition in colour.
Crassula ovata — broader, glossy leaves and a more upright shape add height and contrasting texture.

Care at a glance

Light

A very bright position with gentle sun. Increase direct exposure gradually and watch the new growth.

Water

Let the mix dry through its depth. Then water evenly and allow all the excess to drain away.

Climate

Good airflow and protection from frost, prolonged rain and cold, wet conditions. No routine misting is needed.

Pets

Keep out of reach of animals that chew leaves. This is an ornamental plant and is not intended to be eaten.

Detailed care Complete care guide Light, watering, climate, potting mix and feeding in detail

Light and gradual acclimatisation

Start with very bright natural light and morning sunshine. If you move it outdoors, increase exposure gradually, protecting it from hot midday sun while it adjusts. A shaded shelf far from a window makes it harder to maintain dense growth.

Check below the surface

Check the mix below the surface and feel the weight of the pot. Once it is dry, water slowly around the base of the stems until water leaves the drainage holes, then empty the saucer. Light, temperature and the mix determine the next watering, rather than a fixed number of days.

Air around dense foliage

Leave space around the foliage so air can circulate and any accidentally wetted leaves can dry. Avoid routine misting and closed terrariums. Carefully remove dry leaves caught between the stems.

Temperature and growth rhythm

Keep it in a bright, sheltered position free from frost. As days become darker or growth slows, the mix often takes longer to dry and watering should adjust accordingly. Follow the plant’s actual growth instead of imposing a fixed period of complete dormancy.

Potting mix and pot size

Use an airy, freely draining cactus and succulent mix, such as Sybasoil Cacti & Succulent Premium Mix. Drainage holes are essential. Repot when roots have filled the available space, choosing a pot only a little larger.

Feeding and a light trim

Sybasoil provides initial nutrition for around 180 days. Afterwards, and only during active growth, use Cactus & Succulent Focus at 5ml per litre every second normal watering, following the label. Do not add extra waterings to apply fertiliser. Skip feeding when growth has stopped. To shape the plant, shorten a few healthy tips with clean scissors, leaving leafy nodes below each cut.

Botanical identity Identity & origins The genus, the cultivated selection and Dutch cultivation

Botanical identity

Sedum 'Kent Belle' belongs to the genus Sedum in the Crassulaceae family. Its supplied name identifies the genus and the cultivated selection ‘Kent Belle’.

The selection’s history

The exact botanical ancestry of ‘Kent Belle’, its originator and its introduction date remain unresolved. The trade name alone does not identify a particular wild species or hybrid parentage.

Grown in the Netherlands

These plants come from Dutch cultivation. The country of cultivation describes where they were grown; the selection’s natural geographical ancestry remains unresolved.

Greenleaf for Plant Nerds Scientific facts nobody asked for Botanical details for anyone curious about the science behind the plant

Turgor gives leaves their fullness

Fleshy texture is linked to water storage in living tissue. In plant cells, vacuoles hold water and contribute to pressure against the cell wall, known as turgor. Changes in this pressure affect firmness, without revealing the cause of every soft leaf on their own.

Roots also need oxygen

Root cells generate energy through cellular respiration, even while leaves are photosynthesising. Oxygen supports ATP production in mitochondria. A prolonged shortage in saturated potting mix therefore limits essential root functions.

Growing tips influence branching

Apical dominance regulates shoot development: signals associated with auxins limit the outgrowth of lateral buds. Removing a growing tip changes this balance and can encourage new branches from nodes farther down the stem.

A cutting preserves genetic continuity

Vegetative propagation, widespread in Sedum, bypasses fertilisation and the genetic recombination associated with it. A cutting usually retains the original plant’s genotype. Environmental conditions can still change its appearance, even with the same genetic background.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about lime colour, slender shoots, watering and its place in your collection.

01 Does the yellow-green colour mean something is wrong?

Bright lime foliage is part of this plant’s appearance. A sudden change accompanied by soft stems, spots or heavy leaf drop calls for a check of the mix and growing conditions. Do not automatically add fertiliser simply because the leaves are not dark green.

02 When should I water it again?

When the mix has dried through its depth and the pot feels noticeably lighter. Water thoroughly, then let it drain. If stems look soft while the mix remains wet, check the roots before adding more water.

03 Can it stay outdoors in winter?

For this selection, choose a bright position protected from frost and prolonged rain. A small pot needs particular attention in cold, wet weather. Move it to shelter as conditions worsen and let the mix dry before watering again.

04 Why are the new stems long and sparse?

New growth with large gaps between leaves is often linked to insufficient light. Move it gradually closer to a bright window and watch the next growing tips. Existing stretched stems will not shorten again; the aim is denser new growth.

05 Can I shorten the stems that reach out?

Yes, with a light trim while the plant is healthy and growing. Use clean scissors, cut above a leafy node and keep plenty of foliage on each stem. Avoid combining hard pruning, repotting and a sudden change in sun exposure.

06 Where should I place it if I have pets?

Choose a stable position where animals cannot chew or pull at the stems. Do not treat it as an edible plant or a toy. If ingestion is followed by illness, contact a vet and have the plant label available.
