Sansevieria cylindrica Straight gathers long cylindrical leaves into a parallel, near-vertical cluster. Soft grey-green transverse bands show across the rounded surface, while the limited footprint makes the form resemble a restrained botanical sculpture.

Kew treats Sansevieria cylindrica as a synonym of the accepted Dracaena angolensis in Asparagaceae.

The trade Straight form

Straight describes the upright, parallel presentation of cylindrical leaves, not a different species or a documented separate cultivar. The botanical basis of the Sansevieria cylindrica group is Dracaena angolensis.

Wild origin

Dracaena angolensis is native to Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe and is associated mainly with seasonally dry tropical habitat.

From natural habitat to care: The upright cylinders are storage organs adapted to seasonal dryness. Indoors they need bright light, deep but infrequent watering and a mix that quickly refills with air.
