Sansevieria ‘Digitorum’ forms a cluster of narrow cylindrical leaves rising like green fingers or fine spears. A near-circular cross-section, grey-green transverse markings and limited horizontal spread create a clean sculptural presence.

Clear spaces between the upright green lines make the cluster feel light, although each leaf is thick and firm. ‘Digitorum’ draws the eye through repetition and simplicity.

‘Digitorum’ is sold as a slender cylindrical-leaved form of the Sansevieria cylindrica group. That species name is a synonym of the accepted Dracaena angolensis, in Asparagaceae.

The name ‘Digitorum’ accompanies its distinctive cluster of slender, finger-like leaves. Its commercial history is less clearly documented than the botanical history of the species; no specific breeder or introduction date is assigned without a verified source.

Wild origin

Dracaena angolensis is native to southern tropical Africa—Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe—and grows mainly in seasonally dry tropical habitat.
