The name billietiae belongs to the species itself. Its orange petiole colour is a plant characteristic, not an added trade designation.
Its native range includes French Guiana, Guyana and Pará in Brazil, in wet tropical rainforest.
The orange axis joins blade to node but carries no nodes of its own. Propagation requires part of the true stem, not merely a petiole and leaf.
