The balance of organic and mineral components keeps air pockets around the roots without making the mix dry abruptly.

The base of the mix

1 part coco coir, 1.5 parts worm castings, 3.5 parts coconut husk chips, 2.5 parts perlite and 1.5 parts orchid bark, with small amounts of activated carbon and lava gravel, plus organic nutrients.

1 part coco coir: Holds available moisture and wets evenly.
1.5 parts worm castings: Add bioactive organic matter and gradual nutrition.
3.5 parts coconut husk chips: Create large air pockets and resist compaction.
2.5 parts perlite: Improves aeration and the release of excess water.

01Remove loose old potting mix

Lift the plant carefully and remove material that comes away without pulling hard on the roots.

02Add a base layer

Place some Aroid Mix in the bottom and position the plant at the correct height.

03Fill without compacting

Fill around the root ball and tap the pot lightly so the air spaces remain intact.

04Water and drain

Wet the mix evenly after repotting and let all excess water drain away.

Check moisture before every watering

Water again when the top 2–3 cm has dried. The actual frequency changes with the plant, pot, light and temperature.
