The material

A porous mineral structure that remains stable

The irregular volcanic granules do not compact like a fine organic material. When distributed correctly through a potting mix, they leave small spaces that support the movement of air and water.

Black volcanic lava rock

A durable mineral material in a fine-to-medium grade for surface dressing or careful blending into a potting mix.

Porous surface: The natural texture creates contact points for water and air without forming a compact mass.
Stable granules: Mineral lava does not break down like an organic ingredient and helps the mix retain an open structure.
Black top dressing: Creates an even, contemporary finish and limits potting-mix splash during watering.
No built-in nutrition: It works as a structural and decorative material; it does not replace a suitable fertiliser.

Before use

Rinse and apply it correctly in four steps

Fine transport dust is normal with a granular mineral material. Rinse only the amount you need and allow it to drain.

01Rinse with clean water

Place the lava rock in a sieve and rinse until the water runs clear, without using a cleaning product.

02Choose its purpose

Use it as a thin top dressing or add it gradually to a mix that needs more structure and drainage.

03Distribute it evenly

When blending, spread the granules throughout the mix. On the surface, keep the base of the plant clear.

04Adjust watering

Check the actual moisture after application; the right frequency depends on the plant, pot and the rest of the mix.

It does not replace drainage holes or fertiliser

Lava rock improves structure only when used correctly. The pot must allow excess water to escape, while nutrition should be adjusted separately to the plant's needs.
