Also known as: Crassula 'tenelli'
Family: Crassulaceae • Pot diameter: 8.5cm • Height: approx. 10cm
Unique texture and silver detail ✨
Fine, cylindrical “fuzzy” leaves with a silver tone, compact growth and small white-pink flowers from late autumn to early winter — small, but very eye-catching.
Place it in full sun outdoors or in a very bright indoor position. Water sparingly, only when the substrate has dried completely. It prefers a terracotta pot and a porous mix so the roots can “breathe”.
Taxonomic basis: Crassula mesembryanthemoides (Haw.) D.Dietr. — a species in the family Crassulaceae with characteristic white fuzz on the leaves.
Naming status: In the nursery trade, it is also found as Crassula 'tenelli'/'tenella'; this cultivated name is used commercially for forms with especially strong fuzzy foliage.
Selection: Clones with denser leaf hairs were selected for a silver appearance and compact habit, suitable for small decorative pots.
Flowering/foliage traits: Fine, cylindrical, hairy leaves; small white-pink inflorescences from late autumn into winter.
Reference habitat & cultivation: South Africa — dry slopes with full sun, rocky substrates and excellent drainage; sparse watering and a winter rest period.
Difference from related varieties: The dense white fuzz and cylindrical leaves distinguish it from glaucous Crassula with a smoother surface.
Propagation & stability: Propagation by stem or leaf cuttings during the warm season; the phenotype remains stable under high light and dry root conditions.
