The pink-flowered form of Crassula exilis subsp. schmidtii combines slender, fleshy leaves with dark speckling, a soft texture and reddish accents that become stronger in bright light. Its many stems form a dense, textured cushion, while tiny pink to purplish-pink flowers gather in striking flower heads above the foliage. It is a finely detailed succulent with rich flowering, unusual texture and far more stage presence than its small stature suggests.
At around 15 cm tall, it is best displayed on a surface that lets you observe the fine foliage and pink flower heads up close. Indoors, it needs a position very close to a bright window, with strong natural light and, ideally, a little gentle morning or afternoon sun. Outdoors, choose a bright, airy spot protected from the hot midday sun of the Greek summer, prolonged rain and frost.
Botanical identity: The accepted name is Crassula exilis subsp. schmidtii. In literature and trade, you may also see it as Crassula schmidtii, an older synonym.
The Pink name: The Pink indication separates the pink-flowered form of this Crassula, with flowers in vivid pink to purplish-pink shades.

Flowering is affected by the plant’s maturity, light intensity and the seasonal rhythm of temperature and watering. Keep it in a very bright position, avoid excessive fertiliser and do not keep the soil constantly wet. Even with correct care, not all plants flower at the same time.
It propagates easily from small stem cuttings or by dividing dense sections. Let the cut dry briefly, place the cutting in a dry, porous mix and begin with very light watering once it starts rooting.
