Family: Crassulaceae • Pot diameter: 5.5 cm
From green to “flame” — the succulent that ignites in cool weather 🔥
Crassula capitella ‘Campfire’ forms tight rosettes and offsets with excellent branching. In brighter sun, the leaves turn vivid red-orange; in lower light, they stay greener. As temperatures drop, the colour often deepens even more.
A bright spot from sun to partial shade. Full sun gives the strongest red tones—just be mindful of extreme midday heat in summer. Protect from temperatures below 7°C and from frost.
Its taxonomy has been discussed extensively; it is encountered as a form or hybrid related to Crassula capitella (historically cited near C. erosula/C. subacaulis ssp. erosula). ‘Campfire’ was selected for its intense red-orange foliage and its tendency to produce many offsets.

🔥 “Flaming” foliage that shifts with the seasons.
🧩 Quickly fills the pot with offsets.
💤 Forgiving when you forget a watering.
🧬 Family Crassulaceae; a CAM succulent (Crassulacean Acid Metabolism) that saves water by opening stomata mainly at night.
🔬 Reddening is triggered by light/cool stress via anthocyanin accumulation; it also works as a “sunscreen” shield.
🌱 Propagates easily from tips and stem cuttings (stem cuttings) in a dry, gritty mix.
Very bright light to full sun. For the deepest red tones, choose full sun—just avoid extreme midday heat in summer.
Only when the mix is completely dry. Spring/summer: sparse watering; autumn: minimal; winter: pause.
Best kept above 7°C. In colder areas, grow it in a pot and protect it from frost.
A very fast-draining succulent mix with a high mineral percentage (perlite/pumice/lava rock) so water never sits around the roots.
