Delicate, quiet and dangerously pretty 💗
Family: Apocynaceae • Pot diameter: 12cm • Height: 30cm
Ceropegia woodii 'Variegata' is an elegant trailing variety with heart-shaped, fleshy leaves and bright variegated colouring that looks especially beautiful in a hanging pot. Its fine stems create an airy, cascading look, making it ideal for very bright shelves, windows and corners where you want a plant with detail, movement and a clean aesthetic without taking up much space. It is one of the most decorative trailing plants for indoor spaces, combining a refined appearance, a more special character and relatively easy care.
Place it in a very bright position, ideally with strong indirect light and a few hours of gentle morning or afternoon sun. Its trailing form looks best when the plant is placed a little higher, so the stems can fall naturally. In a very dark position it becomes sparse and loses character, while harsh summer sun can stress the foliage more easily.
Composition role: the light trailing element that softens lines and gives a more natural flow to the space.
Botanical background: It belongs to Ceropegia woodii, a recognised species in major botanical references, with a natural range from Zimbabwe to South Africa. It is a tuberous geophyte with fine climbing or trailing stems and small fleshy leaves.
Horticultural naming: In botanical and commercial use, it may appear both as Ceropegia woodii and as Ceropegia linearis subsp. woodii. The form 'Variegata' is recognised in cultivation for its brighter, variegated foliage, which makes it even more decorative as a hanging plant.
Morphological character: The species is known for its long, fine stems, heart-shaped leaves and distinctive tubular flowers. In the variegated form, the main ornamental feature is the contrast between green and the lighter tones of the leaf.
Cultivation value: It is one of the most loved trailing succulents for indoor spaces, precisely because it combines low demands, movement, refined texture and a very clean silhouette.

Yes, it needs a very bright position to keep attractive growth and cleaner foliage. Strong indirect light is ideal, while a little gentle morning or afternoon sun usually helps.
Water thoroughly, then allow the substrate to dry slightly before watering again. It does not want permanent drought, but it also does not like a heavy, constantly wet pot.
Yes, it is one of the best choices for a hanging pot. Its fine stems gain much better movement when they are allowed to fall freely.
It can flower when it receives good light and stable conditions, but even without flowering it remains highly decorative thanks to its stems and foliage.
