Don’t apologise for falling for it… everyone does. 💘
Striking heart-shaped leaves with a satin sheen and bold veining that plays with the light — ‘Queen of Hearts’ is an indoor statement piece that brings a premium look with minimal fuss. A unique, collector’s variety!
With a compact, self-supporting habit, it looks flawless on shelves or a plant stand and rewards with larger leaves in steady, bright indirect light. Pairs beautifully with minimal cachepots and natural materials, elevating living rooms, offices and bright bedrooms.
Bright spot with indirect light, away from harsh midday sun. Water when the top layer dries; never leave water standing in the cachepot. Use an airy aroid mix (perlite/bark) with excellent drainage. Aim for 60–70% humidity to keep leaves pristine; light feeding spring–summer. Avoid drafts and temps below 15°C.
Species context: Genus Anthurium — tropical aroids of Central/South America; many have “velvet” foliage with pronounced veining, beloved as houseplants.
Group/breeding: Velvet/foliage anthuriums — selections emphasising large, cordate blades, satin–velvet texture and clean architectural lines for premium décor.
‘Queen of Hearts’ — character: Large heart-shaped leaves with a satin gloss and strong veining; new growth often emerges deeper-toned and matures to dark green; compact, self-supporting habit suited to shelves/stands.
Phenology: New leaves unfurl gradually and deepen in colour over time; with steady light/humidity, leaf size and sheen improve noticeably.
Cultural notes: Thrives in bright indirect light, higher relative humidity (~60–70%), and an airy aroid substrate (perlite/bark) with excellent drainage; water when the top layer dries.
Propagation: Asexual — tissue culture or nodal cuttings/division to preserve ornamental traits.
