What does the legal guarantee mean for plants?

The legal guarantee concerns the plant’s conformity at delivery. It is not a guarantee of survival or growth for two years. Each issue is assessed taking into account the nature of the plant, its care and the conditions in which it is kept. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Aglaonema ‘Apple Fantasy’

The palette made every decision without consulting anyone

Family: Araceae · Pot diameter: 12 cm · Height: 35 cm

  • Araceae
  • Multicoloured foliage
  • Bright indirect light
  • Moderate watering
  • Upright growth

Aglaonema ‘Apple Fantasy’ combines vivid apple green, cream venation and unpredictable pink strokes on leaves that look painted in separate layers. The palette is bright while retaining a natural green foundation.

An upright bushy habit contains all that colour inside a clean silhouette. Every new leaf adds a different ratio of tones, so the display evolves without becoming untidy.

What makes it distinctive

‘Apple Fantasy’ moves from cool green through cream to pink while staying anchored by a dense, reliable form.

An apple-green ground

A luminous base tone brings freshness and keeps the composition light even where markings are dense.

Cream venation

Pale lines organise the blade visually and connect its green and pink areas.

Pink without a rulebook

Warm strokes change position and extent from leaf to leaf, adding genuine natural variation.

Why you will love it: it delivers multicoloured energy without demanding the room or sensitivity of a large collector plant.

In your space

Where it looks its best

Display it on a bright desk, deep shelf or side table. Cream, olive, soft coral or pale terracotta planters repeat a single tone and let the foliage organise the rest of the view.

Plant pairings

Plants that set it off

Choose solid-coloured companions with different texture so the complex palette stays readable and indirect-light needs remain compatible.

  • Philodendron hederaceum — deep green and a trailing line provide a calm frame.
  • Chamaedorea elegans — fine feathery foliage adds height without another pattern.
  • Peperomia obtusifolia — rounded glossy texture balances the elongated blades.

Care at a glance

Light

Bright indirect light. Medium light is tolerated, but colour and compact growth improve in a brighter position.

Water

Water when the top 2–4 cm dries, then soak thoroughly and let all excess water escape.

Atmosphere

Keep at 18–26°C with average to moderate humidity and stable conditions away from cold draughts.

Pets

Not pet-safe. Aroid tissues contain irritating insoluble calcium oxalate crystals.

Detailed careComplete care guideLight, watering, humidity, substrate and nutrition in detail

Light and colour

Place it near an east- or north-facing window or behind a sheer curtain. Very low light slows growth and reduces contrast, while strong direct sun can scorch the blades.

Watering correctly

Check the mix and water when the top 2–4 cm dries. Wet the root ball, allow water to escape through the holes and empty the decorative outer pot.

Air humidity

It adapts to normal household humidity. Stable moderate humidity helps keep edges clean without daily misting.

Temperature

Keep ideally at 18–26°C without sudden drops. Avoid air conditioning, exterior doors and cold glass, and do not expose it below 15°C.

Substrate

Use an airy aroid mix that holds gentle moisture but sheds excess water promptly. A pot with unobstructed drainage holes is essential.

Nutrition and repotting

Osmocote Exact Mini is a controlled-release feed designed for small pots. Apply it strictly at the label rate and do not combine it with frequent liquid feeding. If a new substrate is already enriched, wait until its initial nutrition has been used.

Botanical identityOrigin & taxonomic identityThe species, origin and cultivated selection

Genus Aglaonema

Aglaonema is an accepted genus in Araceae, published by Heinrich Wilhelm Schott in 1829. It contains evergreen tropical aroids valued mainly for foliage.

Selection ‘Apple Fantasy’

Aglaonema ‘Apple Fantasy’ is sold as a modern cultivated selection at genus level. A reliably documented breeder, parentage and first-release year are not publicly supplied with the name.

Origin of the genus

Wild species range from northeastern India to Papua New Guinea, mainly in humid tropical forest. That region is not the documented place where this cultivar was created.

Three colour families share one tissue

Chlorophyll, anthocyanins and zones with reduced green pigment create green, pink and cream. The result is distribution within tissue, not surface paint.

Variation is maintained clonally

Plants are propagated vegetatively so the cultivar remains recognisable. Seed would recombine genes and could not guarantee the same palette.

A leaf keeps maturing after it opens

Young blades change firmness and colour as the epidermis develops and pigments stabilise. The first day does not always show the final pattern.

The tissues contain raphides

Like other aroids, Aglaonema contains needle-like calcium oxalate crystals that cause strong irritation when chewed.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about behaviour, common signs and correct care for this plant.

01 Why have the pink strokes become less visible?

Colour percentage varies naturally by leaf, but consistently greener growth can indicate insufficient light. Move it gradually into a brighter indirect position and judge two or three mature new leaves.

02 Can it live in lower light?

It can adapt to medium light, but growth slows, water use falls and foliage contrast may soften. Bright indirect light gives the best overall form.

03 Can I use Osmocote and liquid feed together?

Not as a default programme. Osmocote Exact Mini already supplies complete controlled-release nutrition. Frequent liquid feed on top raises overfeeding risk, especially in a small 12 cm pot.

04 When exactly should I water?

Check the top 2–4 cm with a finger or wooden skewer. If dry, water fully and let it drain; if still cool and moist, wait.

05 Why are lower leaves turning yellow?

One old lower leaf can yellow naturally. Several at once, especially with constantly wet mix, call for a check of watering frequency, drainage and roots.

06 Is it safe around cats, dogs and young children?

Not for chewing or ingestion. Insoluble calcium oxalate crystals can cause oral pain, drooling and difficulty swallowing. Keep it out of reach and contact a vet or doctor if exposure occurs.
