Aeschynanthus radicans 'Rasta' - Aeschyanthus Family: Gesneriaceae Family Family Family Family Family: Family Family N.N.N.N.N.N.N.N.N.N.N.N.N.N.
An excellent indoor variety with highly twisted leaves and striking red flowers. Very hardy plant, can even be placed in shady positions. Origin: Tropical, humid forests of Asia, from the Himalayas to Indonesia, where it usually grows on trees. It is also ideal for hanging pots or placement in a high spot, where it can hang 1-1.5 metres.
Care
Moderate watering and after the soil surface is dry, ideally with rain or deionised water. Excessive watering should be avoided. Prefers bright, warm locations but without direct sun exposure. It is a plant that loves high humidity and particularly appreciates occasional sprinkling on the leaves. In Winter watering should be limited considerably, which helps the plant to have better flowering in Summer.
Its name comes from the Greek words 'feel' and 'flower', as if the plant is shy about showing its flowers, perhaps because it thinks its foliage is more beautiful. That's why most of the time its lush foliage covers the flowers.
