What does the legal guarantee mean for plants?

The legal guarantee concerns the plant’s conformity at delivery. It is not a guarantee of survival or growth for two years. Each issue is assessed taking into account the nature of the plant, its care and the conditions in which it is kept. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

Epipremnum ‘Marble Variegata’

Marble that asks for water instead of a contractor

Family: Araceae · Pot diameter: 12 cm · Height: approx. 20 cm

  • Araceae
  • White marbling
  • High contrast
  • Climbing habit
  • Collector foliage

Epipremnum ‘Marble Variegata’ draws white, cream and pale-green routes across a deeper green ground, shifting from fine speckling to broad luminous fields.

High contrast makes even juvenile growth feel like a mature design statement, while stems remain easy to trail or support.

What makes it distinctive

Broad white zones, fine marbling and natural asymmetry build high-contrast foliage.

From speckle to broad fields

Pattern changes scale within one plant, from tiny dots to wide cream surfaces.

Depth beneath the white

Several green tones keep the marbling from looking flat and add movement.

Every node, another version

The next leaf never copies the last, turning growth into a continuing reveal.

Why you will love it: it offers dramatic white while retaining the organic irregularity that makes variegation feel alive.

In your space

Where it looks its best

Let it trail from a high shelf or guide it up a slim support near a bright window without hot sun. Matte white, charcoal, terracotta or deep-green planters keep the foliage in the leading role.

Plant pairings

Plants that set it off

Pair it with aroids of contrasting texture so its palette stands out within a coherent, easy-care composition.

  • Scindapsus pictus — silver spotting and similar climbing movement with a more velvety surface.
  • Philodendron hederaceum — calm heart-shaped foliage that builds layers without competing with the pattern.
  • Rhaphidophora tetrasperma — clean splits and an upright line that add architectural counterpoint.

Care at a glance

Light

Bright indirect light. Medium light is tolerated, but pattern and compact growth improve close to a bright window.

Water

Water when the top 2–4 cm dries, soaking evenly and allowing all excess water to escape.

Atmosphere

Keep at 18–28°C with average to moderate humidity and protection below 15°C.

Pets

Not pet-safe. Aroid tissues contain irritating insoluble calcium oxalate crystals.

Detailed careComplete care guideLight, watering, humidity, substrate and nutrition in detail

Light and variegation

Provide bright indirect light near an east-facing or filtered south-facing window. Deep shade reduces pace and contrast, while hot direct sun may fade or scorch the blades.

Watering cycle

Check the mix 2–4 cm down and water once that layer has dried. Wet the whole root ball and drain fully without leaving water in the decorative outer pot.

Humidity and clean leaves

Normal household humidity is sufficient, although stable moderate humidity helps new leaves open cleanly. Wipe dust gently rather than relying on repeated misting.

Temperature and growth

Keep it ideally at 18–28°C and away from cold draughts. Water use falls in lower light, so the winter watering rhythm should slow accordingly.

Substrate and support

Use a chunky, airy aroid mix in a pot with unrestricted drainage. It may trail or climb; on a support, mature leaves usually increase in size.

Nutrition and repotting

Osmocote Exact Mini is a controlled-release feed designed for small pots. Apply it strictly at the label rate and do not combine it with frequent liquid feeding. If a new substrate is already enriched, wait until its initial nutrition has been used.

Botanical identityOrigin & taxonomic identityThe species, origin and cultivated selection

A cultivated name within Epipremnum

Epipremnum ‘Marble Variegata’ is a cultivated trade name at genus level, without an established connection to a particular species.

An Asian–Pacific genus

The accepted genus Epipremnum contains climbing aroids native from tropical and subtropical Asia to the Pacific.

A trade identity, not a new wild species

The cultivated name describes repeatable foliage traits in horticulture. It does not by itself constitute a published botanical species.

Aerial roots are climbing tools

Roots form at nodes to anchor the stem to a support and absorb moisture. They do not automatically mean the plant needs a larger pot.

Maturity changes geometry

With a stable support, good light and time, successive leaves can enlarge and develop more pronounced morphology than juvenile foliage.

Variegation carries less chlorophyll

Pale tissue contains less functional chlorophyll. It therefore benefits from ample indirect light but scorches more easily in harsh sun.

Raphides explain the irritation

Araceae tissues contain microscopic calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing releases these raphides and causes immediate irritation.

Frequently asked questions

Practical answers about behaviour, common signs and correct care for this plant.

01 What should I do with an all-white shoot?

Watch it closely: without enough green tissue it cannot sustain itself long term. If it continues producing only white leaves, prune back to a balanced node.

02 When exactly should I water?

Check the top 2–4 cm and the pot's weight. If the upper layer is dry and the pot lighter, water deeply and drain; if it remains cool and moist, wait.

03 Can I make the marbling whiter?

Light influences expression, but genetics sets the pattern. Provide bright indirect light; do not use extra feed or direct sun as a bleaching method.

04 Why are leaves turning yellow?

One old lower leaf can yellow naturally. Several at once, especially with constantly wet mix, call for a check of watering, drainage, light and roots.

05 Should it trail or climb a support?

Both forms are valid. Trailing creates long lines, while a stable support encourages upward growth and can produce larger, more mature leaves.

06 Is it safe around cats, dogs and young children?

Not for chewing or ingestion. Insoluble calcium oxalate crystals can cause oral pain, drooling and difficulty swallowing. Keep it out of reach and contact a vet or doctor if exposure occurs.
