Water level indicator IV, P6240 (for Hydroponic Pots) makes water checks in larger hydroculture planters simple and clear. Its MIN, OPT and MAX scale rises and falls with free water in the reservoir, so you can see the available reserve without lifting the plant or guessing. This model features a removable scale, wide shaft and optional extensions and is selected for a 21 cm starting planting depth, with up to five optional extensions of approximately 6.35 cm each. It supports a calmer, repeatable care routine, provided that the actual planting depth is measured first and the float is left free to move.

See the level without lifting the plant

The float follows free water in the watertight reservoir and transfers that movement to the visible scale. This provides a consistent reference without dismantling the planter.

  • Choose IV by its actual fitting depth: 21 cm base · up to 52.75 cm with extensions.
  • For normal care, OPT is the usual refill target.
  • Refill frequency must be adapted to the plant, season and conditions.
It is not a moisture sensor. The reading refers only to free water in the reservoir.

01

Check at a glance

Follow the changing level without lifting the liner or disturbing the plant.

02

Choose by actual measurement

Planting depth is clearly distinguished from the overall height of the product and planter.

03

A steadier routine

MIN, OPT and MAX replace blind estimation with a visible point of reference.

FittingDepth, overall height and compatibilityCorrect measurement prevents choosing the wrong model.

Where IV fits correctly

Planting depth is the functional measurement inside the system. It is not necessarily the same as the indicator's overall height or the decorative planter's external height.

Fitting depth

21 cm base · up to 52.75 cm with extensions

for a 21 cm starting planting depth, with up to five optional extensions of approximately 6.35 cm each.

Overall size / format

8.3 × 8.3 × 31.5 cm

Overall size helps check available clearance, but it does not replace measuring the planting depth.

Intended category

Extendable system for larger planters

Adapts to different depths without replacing the complete indicator.

Before fitting

Check the base and free travel

Extensions are sold separately and are designed only for model IV. Do not improvise with unrelated tubing.

Dimensions are nominal/approximate. For an existing hydroculture planter, measure the actual internal space before purchase.

Use & readingMIN, OPT and MAX without a rigid scheduleThe reading follows free water — not substrate moisture.

Read MIN, OPT and MAX without guesswork

The scale follows the level of free water in the watertight reservoir. It does not measure moisture in LECA, Pon or another substrate, and it cannot assess root condition.

MIN

The reserve is low

Observe the plant's water use and plan the next refill. There is no single fixed interval for every plant and season.

OPT

The normal refill target

Add water slowly and stop at OPT unless the specific plant or system instructions require a different approach.

MAX

A larger temporary reserve

Use it selectively, for example before a period away. It is not automatically the permanent level for everyday care.

Important: IV is a mechanical water-level indicator. If the reading remains still while the amount of water changes, first check for mineral deposits, residue or an obstruction around the float.

Four steps to a clear reading

Correct fitting and free movement of the mechanism matter more than filling quickly.

01

Measure the depth

Confirm that the hydroculture planter matches the 21 cm base · up to 52.75 cm with extensions fitting depth.

02

Fit the indicator

Position it vertically so the base or float reaches the reservoir without being forced.

03

Check free movement

Before completing the installation, make sure the reading rises and falls without friction or sticking.

04

Fill slowly to OPT

Add water gradually, watch the scale and stop at the chosen target.

Model and code

IV · P6240

Hydroculture water-level indicator with a MIN, OPT and MAX scale, selected for a fitting depth of 21 cm base · up to 52.75 cm with extensions.

Overall size / format

8.3 × 8.3 × 31.5 cm

Overall dimensions are approximately 8.3 × 8.3 × 31.5 cm; the wide shaft provides reservoir access and allows suitable nutrients to be used according to their instructions.

Model feature

For larger hydroculture planters

It features a removable scale, wide shaft and optional extensions.

Extensions

Up to 52.75 cm depth

The base version starts at a 21 cm planting depth. Up to five compatible extensions of approximately 6.35 cm each can be added, only for model IV.

Free movement keeps the reading reliable

Mineral deposits, fine granules or organic residue can restrict the mechanism.

Rinse with lukewarm water

Remove loose residue without high heat or aggressive cleaners.

Test before refitting

The reading should move smoothly and return without sticking.

Inspect periodically

Clean when movement slows or mineral build-up becomes visible.

Frequently asked questions

Short answers on fitting, correct readings and cleaning.

01How do I choose the correct model?

Measure the actual internal planting depth of the liner or cultivation pot. IV is intended for a 21 cm starting planting depth, with up to five optional extensions of approximately 6.35 cm each.

02Is overall height the same as planting depth?

Not necessarily. This model is selected for 21 cm base · up to 52.75 cm with extensions, while its overall size/format is 8.3 × 8.3 × 31.5 cm.

03Does it measure moisture in the substrate?

No. It displays the level of free water in the watertight reservoir. It does not measure moisture in LECA, Pon or soil.

04Should I always fill to MAX?

No. OPT is the normal refill target. MAX is used selectively for a larger temporary reserve, depending on the plant and conditions.

05How often should I refill?

There is no rigid interval that suits every plant. Follow the falling reading together with season, temperature, light and the water use of the specific plant.

06Why is the reading not moving?

Remove and rinse the indicator, then check for mineral deposits, fine granules or residue obstructing the float. Refit it without forcing it.

07Can it be used in a normal soil pot?

It is designed for a system with a free-water reservoir and the correct fitting position. It does not work as a soil-moisture meter in a conventional pot.

08What is included in the pack?

One Water level indicator IV (P6240). The planter, liner, LECA, plant, outer pot and nutrient products are sold separately.
