Member of the Marantha family along with Calatea and Ctenanthea. All these plants have distinctive foliage and are known as 'Prayer Plants' because of their peculiarity of closing upwards at night.
One of the most beautiful tropical plants, this variety impresses with its trichromaticity, as its name suggests. Impressive green-white leaves on the upper surface and pink-burgundy leaves on the lower surface. Also known as 'tricolor'.
Native to the Brazilian rainforests, where it is covered by tall trees, which means it does not like direct exposure to the sun. It likes high humidity which makes it ideal for places in the bathroom or kitchen. The soil should remain moist but not excessively so. Spraying the leaves with water increases the desired levels of moisture needed.
Maintenance Instructions
Light: Prefers bright planting positions. It tolerates slightly lower light levels. Watering: Keep the soil moist all the time. Allow the topsoil to dry out before watering again. Do not overwater. Fertilization: Apply a light dose of liquid fertilizer 1-2 times per month during the growing season. Tip: Browning and drying on the leaves means the air around the plant is too dry. Do not use plant polish on all plants in this family as it damages the leaves. Dimensions: Maximum height 80-90cm, slow growing. Origin: Tropical Brazil.
