Kew treats Sansevieria cylindrica as a synonym of the accepted Dracaena angolensis in Asparagaceae.

The natural Fan habit

Fan is a trade description of the fan-like appearance, not a separate cultivar. In Dracaena angolensis, basal rosettes naturally become distichous: the leaves arrange in two ranks, creating a relatively flat fan. This is not braiding or mechanical training as in Braid forms.

Wild origin

Dracaena angolensis is native to Angola, Zambia and Zimbabwe and is associated mainly with seasonally dry tropical habitat.

From natural habitat to care: In seasonally dry habitat, cylindrical leaves limit exposed surface and store water. In a pot this translates into sparse watering and a quick return of the mix to a dry, airy state.
