Slow growth so you can admire it for longer ⏳
Pot diameter: 23 cm • Height: ~60 cm • Family: Pinaceae
Selection from Picea pungens f. glauca with an exceptionally stable, symmetrical conical habit and silvery-blue needles that give a “metallic” sheen. Colour intensifies as the plant matures — from year 3 it reaches the striking tone that pops, especially against a dark or green backdrop. Dense branching and a slow pace deliver a premium, tidy look year-round, ideal for entrances, balconies, or as a refined conical accent in compositions.
Bright, airy spot with good air flow. In pots: quality substrate, drainage, and a container with a hole. Avoid trapped heat.
Goal: make the blue tone pop against dark or green backgrounds.
Identity: A selection of Picea pungens originating from form f. glauca, known for intense silvery-blue needles.
Colour intensity: The full, bright blue develops gradually on young plants and stabilises with maturity, typically after year 3.
Shape & symmetry: Very regular, dense conical crown with short, even branch tiers that hold a tidy outline with minimal intervention.
Mature size (in ground): Around 3 m tall × 1.5 m wide over time, with slow and predictable growth.
