Lemony scent, summer mood and mosquitoes having second thoughts 🦟🍋
Family: Geraniaceae · Pot diameter: 12 cm · Current height: 20 cm
Pelargonium Fresh&Fruity® Mosquito is a scented-leaved pelargonium with lobed green leaves that release a lively lemon fragrance as soon as they are touched. Several fleshy stems form a light, loosely upright crown, while small flowers float above the foliage as a discreet summer detail. It is a plant that invites you closer: brush one leaf and a clear citrus note is released at close range.
Beside a path or seating area, the scented foliage sits where a passing hand can naturally brush it. The light, open branching lets the shape of each lobed leaf remain visible. Its appeal is tactile and aromatic; the presence of a pot should not be relied on to keep mosquitoes away.
Three elements define this exact cultivar’s form and presence.
Microscopic glandular structures release volatile oils when the leaf is rubbed.
Deep incisions increase the visual outline and give light movement.
A light brush of the hand immediately releases lemon fragrance around paths and seating areas.
Why you will love it: because scent glands gain a clear presence on a loose basally branched bush, without excessive styling.
Use a warm bright position with 35–45 cm of space, sheltered from frost and persistent wetness.
Use one quiet foliage contrast and two light flowering partners that share a bright sheltered position and the same watering rhythm.
A very bright position with ample sun; provide light shade only during the hottest summer hours.
Water thoroughly once the surface dries and empty the saucer; fleshy stems dislike persistent wetness.
Frost tender. Keep it bright and frost free in winter, with much less water.
An ornamental, not for eating. Pelargoniums can upset pets if chewed, so keep them out of reach.

Water thoroughly once the surface dries and empty the saucer; fleshy stems dislike persistent wetness.
Use a light potting mix with perlite or another mineral component and immediate drainage through the holes.
Use dilute regular flowering-plant feed in the warm season, never on dry compost or during overwintering.
Remove whole spent flower stalks and pinch selected long shoots to promote basal branching. Keep roots free-draining and do not mist foliage that will be touched often; remove soft excessively extended shoots.
Inspect leaf undersides for whitefly and aphids, especially before moving the plant into shelter.
During the first warm season it thickens with new fleshy stems; its display depends on steady light and proper drying between waterings.
Basal stems branch after selective pinching and create more foliage or flowering points above the pot.
With long-term growth it reaches about 30–40 cm in height and 35–45 cm in width, forming a loose basally branched bush.
Branched fleshy stems carry lobed, stalked leaves. Place the light crown within reach to enjoy its fragrance by touch.
The studies show habit and seasonal development; growth varies with age, climate and cultivation.
What to expect after planting: As the stems extend and branch, new lobed leaves gradually fill out the crown. Small flower clusters add colour above the aromatic foliage.
Pelargonium Fresh&Fruity® Mosquito continues the tradition of scented-leaved pelargoniums, in which foliage and the fragrance released by touch take precedence over large flowers. Fresh&Fruity® is the commercial name under which this aromatic selection is presented.
The name Mosquito accompanies its lemon scent without establishing insect-repellent effectiveness. Its exact cross, individual breeder and introduction year remain unknown. Its cultivated identity is therefore grounded in the recognisable plant itself: lobed foliage, aromatic glands and understated flowers.
Essential oils are stored in glandular hairs and released mechanically when the surface is touched or rubbed.
Aromatic molecules evaporate rapidly, so fragrance is strongest immediately after contact.
