When you want a rosy succulent tone — but make it refined 🌸
Family: Crassulaceae • Pot diameter: 8.5 cm • Height: 15 cm
Pachyveria 'Rosy Crow' is prized for its near-symmetrical rosettes in soft rosy-grey tones, finished with a signature matte “powder” (farina) that makes the surface look velvety and perfectly muted. In strong light the colours warm up and leaf edges look more defined, while the form stays compact and clean. It’s an ideal choice for small arrangements, a shelf display, or a gift—because it reads premium without asking for complicated care.
Place it in a very bright spot, ideally near a window. Strong light keeps the rosette compact and helps the rosy tones show their best side. If it will receive direct sun, acclimate gradually.
Role in a composition: the “jewel rosette” that adds colour and clean geometry.
Taxonomic background: Pachyveria is a horticultural hybrid group (hybrid genus) in Crassulaceae, typically involving crosses between Pachyphytum and Echeveria. That explains the “chunkier” leaf feel combined with a rosette habit.
Native range & ecology: The parent genera are mainly from arid to semi-arid regions of Mexico, where strong light and excellent drainage are the norm—conditions that container culture aims to mimic.
Naming (etymology): The name Pachyveria blends “pachy-” (thick/fleshy) with Echeveria, while ‘Rosy Crow’ refers to the rosy colour character and the bold presence of the rosette.
Farina (“powder”): Farina is a waxy protective layer that helps reduce water loss and soften the impact of intense light. That’s why it’s best not to rub or wipe the leaves.
Propagation & stability: It can be propagated from leaves (leaf propagation) and, when present, offsets. Colour and compact form depend strongly on light and on avoiding overwatering.

| 🌿 Botanical name | Pachyveria 'Rosy Crow' |
| 🏷️ Family | Crassulaceae |
| 🪴 Pot / size | 8.5 cm • height 15 cm |
| ☀️ Light | Very bright • can take sun with acclimation. |
| 💧 Watering | Sparse • only on a completely dry substrate. |
| 🪨 Substrate | Very free-draining succulent mix. |
| 🌸 Character | Rosy-grey rosettes • matte farina (“powder”). |
| 🐾 Toxicity | Generally considered non-toxic. Still best kept out of reach from chewing, as leaves snap easily. |
It’s a natural waxy coating (farina) that protects from sun and reduces water loss. That’s why you shouldn’t rub the leaves.
Sparingly. Water only when the substrate has dried completely. In winter, even less.
A very bright spot. The more light it gets (with proper acclimation), the warmer the rosy tones become and the more compact the rosette stays.
It’s generally considered non-toxic. Still, it’s best not to let pets chew it—leaves snap easily and the plant loses its clean look.
