Opuntia hintonii is a rare prickly pear distinguished by its flat, rounded joints with reddish-brown hues and a soft, velvety texture on the surface.
Place in full sun with excellent drainage. Prefers outdoors: balcony or garden. Avoid overwatering and damp cold conditions.
Opuntia hintonii is endemic to Mexico, first described in Coahuila, where it grows on dry rocky slopes with poor soils.
Though part of the Opuntia genus, its velvety cladodes make it unique, resembling fabric more than a typical cactus. Highly sought after for its rarity and unusual appearance.
