Original LECHUZA System
Hanging greenery above. A controlled water reserve below.
The supplied LECHUZA-PON creates the moisture-wicking layer beneath the roots. After the initial rooting period, fill the water reservoir through the dedicated filling shaft; the water-level indicator shows when the water reaches MAX or MIN.
For the first few weeks, water from above, as in a conventional planter.
After rooting, fill the water reservoir from the filling shaft up to the MAX mark.
In an uncovered outdoor area, remove the drain plug; indoors, leave it in place.

From planting to hanging
Four steps for proper start
Balanced planting is part of the safety of a hanging planter.
01 · Set up the system
Place the plant liner, the indicator, and the provided LECHUZA-PON according to the instructions.
02 · Plant evenly
Add suitable substrate and distribute the plant and its weight evenly throughout the plant liner.
03 · Check the suspension
Ensure that the three cables are correctly positioned, intact, and evenly tensioned.
04 · Hang and water
Use a sturdy mounting point, leave space for free rotation, and initially water from above.
The Cottage difference
The warmth of the weave in a clean, round shape
The embossed surface conveys the look of a handwoven surface on a durable plastic body. The calm circular silhouette allows the flowers and hanging plants to become the focal point.
For hot summer weather
The water reservoir helps — wind still requires attention
On hot days, frequently monitor the indicator and the substrate moisture. For hanging use, always choose a protected spot and lower the NIDO when strong winds or storms are expected.

Frequently asked questions
What does the All-in-One Set include?
Includes the NIDO Cottage 28 outer shell, the removable plant liner, the LECHUZA self-watering system with water-level indicator, LECHUZA-PON for the base layer, and the stainless steel suspension with three cables. The plant, additional substrate, and suitable mounting material for the building are not included.
What are its dimensions and capacities?
The planter has dimensions of approximately Ø 27 × 23 cm, plant liner Ø 24 cm, planting depth 15 cm, plant volume 6 L, and water reservoir 1.9 L. The maximum plant height is 30 cm and the total height including the hanger is 74 cm.
What is the maximum weight and how is it hung safely?
The total weight of the NIDO Cottage 28 with planting and water must not exceed 10 kg. Use a suitable sturdy attachment point, distribute the weight evenly, hang it away from passageways, and leave enough space for it to rotate freely. It must be brought down in strong wind or storm.
Can I use it without hanging it?
Yes. The NIDO Cottage 28 can also be used as a tabletop planter on a stable, flat surface that can accommodate the entire base and support the weight when planted and filled with water.
Do I fill the reservoir immediately after planting?
For the first few weeks, water from above, until the roots reach the moisture zone. Then you can transition to reservoir watering: fill it about halfway and observe if the level drops in the following days. When the plant starts drawing water, use the filling shaft and the MAX indicator normally.
Is it suitable for outdoor use and rain?
Yes. For use in an uncovered outdoor area, remove the drain plug so that excess rainwater can be drained. In an indoor or fully protected area, the plug remains in place. For hanging use, choose a location protected from the wind.
When do I refill the reservoir?
When the indicator reaches MIN, allow the appropriate dry phase for your plant and then refill up to MAX. The duration depends on the species, location, temperature, and wind. On very hot days, check the indicator and substrate moisture daily.
