Metrosideros is an evergreen shrub with greyish-green leaves and red flowers, similar to those of the calico, which appear in May-June. It grows best in mild climates and sunny locations. Very hardy plant for planting near the sea. Planted singly, to create a vegetative hedge and in compositions with other plants. Suitable also for planting in pots, flowerpots and window boxes.
