Background & origin: Hybrid Hoya carnosa (♀) × Hoya serpens (♂); bred by Emilio Begine (Belgium, around 1994).
Naming: ‘Chouke’ honours the breeder’s wife; a sibling seedling of ‘Mathilde’.
Morphological features: Small, velvety leaves with subtle silver splash; compact trailing habit.
Propagation & stability: Clonal cuttings with 2–3 nodes; do not remove the peduncles.
Distribution: Described in Fraterna (2003) & Hoyatelegrafen (2005); now widely grown in collections.
1) Growing medium: Epiphytic mix: peat/perlite/coir + a little orchid bark. Plenty of drainage holes.
2) Watering: When the mix dries out; favour deep, infrequent watering. Water less often in winter.
3) Light/Temperature: Bright indirect light; >15°C. Avoid draughts & sudden changes.

💧 Hoyas & Nectar stains—what to know:
During flowering, the blooms produce sweet, sticky nectar, especially in the afternoon or humid conditions. If it drips onto wooden furniture or fabrics, it can leave dark or shiny stains that are difficult to remove completely. To prevent this:
✔ Position the plant so nectar cannot drip directly onto surfaces
✔ Place a protective tray or cloth under the cachepot
✔ If it drips, clean immediately with a damp cloth and lukewarm water
