Hibiscus syriacus ‘Notwoodtwo’ White Chiffon® illuminates the late garden with flowers that appear carved from white silk. Five broad outer petals frame a softly filled centre of smaller petaloid organs, adding depth without weighing down the corolla. Against the upright green crown, the white remains visible at distance and becomes especially atmospheric in gentle evening light.

Against dark green foliage, the white remains clear even from a distance. A small group adds a bright rhythm to a long border, while a single shrub can frame a seating area. The folded centre gives each bloom detail even in a strictly white-and-green planting.

‘Notwoodtwo’, sold as White Chiffon®, was raised in Roderick Woods’s programme at Great Shelford, England. It came from open pollination among unnamed Hibiscus syriacus seedlings. Woods selected it for the combination of pure white colour and a semi-double flower.

Cutting propagation at Woodbridge began in 1988. Successive generations retained the upright habit and large white blooms with numerous smaller petaloids. US plant patent PP12612 records this history without identifying the two parents.
