Not pink, not purple — far too refined to choose a side 💜
Family: Malvaceae • Pot diameter: 19 cm • Height: 55 cm

Hibiscus syriacus Lavender Chiffon® brings a rare, soft lavender-pink colour to the garden: elegant, luminous and strong enough to hold its own in summer light. Its large flowers have a distinctive lacy, petaloid centre that creates an anemone-like, semi-double effect, while the deeper veins towards the heart of the bloom add depth and movement. The dark green foliage provides a clean backdrop, allowing the flowers to take the lead from midsummer onwards, exactly when many plantings need a fresh wave of colour. It is an excellent choice for sunny borders, large pots, patios and focal points where you want a refined, long-flowering shrub with a polished garden presence.
Place it in a sunny position with several hours of direct light per day, so it can produce strong flowering and a well-shaped habit. It suits patios, beds, borders and large pots with good drainage. During the first stages after planting, keep watering more regular to help the shrub establish properly; after that, it becomes more comfortable in warm, bright positions. Its lavender-pink colour looks especially beautiful beside darker foliage, white flowers or silver-toned textures.
Design goal: soft summer colour with depth, long seasonal interest and a clean architectural presence in the garden.
Cultivar identity: Hibiscus syriacus Lavender Chiffon® is the trade name for the cultivar Hibiscus syriacus 'Notwoodone' PBR, a deciduous Rose of Sharon shrub in the family Malvaceae, valued for its summer flowering and strong use in borders, gardens and large pots.
Chiffon® series: The Chiffon® series was developed for Rose of Sharon cultivars with a softer, fuller flower effect and a more refined garden presence. The petaloid centre gives the flower extra texture and creates the airy, anemone-like look that separates the series from simpler single-flowered forms.
Breeding line: The cultivar is associated with the breeding work of Dr. Roderick Ian Woods in the United Kingdom and is protected under the cultivar name 'Notwoodone'. Its selection focused on lavender-pink colour, a lacy flower centre and reliable summer performance in a well-branched shrub.
Cultivar character: Lavender Chiffon® stands out for its soft but lively colour, which becomes deeper towards the centre of the flower. The overall effect is luminous, romantic and unmistakably summer-focused, while keeping the elegant look that defines the Chiffon® line.
