A tiny cactus with big geometry ✨
Family: Cactaceae • Pot diameter: 5.5 cm
Heliabravoa chende is a collector-style mini cactus with a clean, architectural silhouette and an “engineered” look even at 5.5 cm. It’s the kind of plant that elevates a desert setup: crisp ribs, confident spines, and a compact body that reads like a small sculpture. Give it strong light, a very free-draining mix, and truly sparse watering — and it stays tight, sharp, and photogenic for years.
Put it in the brightest spot you have — ideally with direct sun for a good part of the day. If it’s coming from a shaded greenhouse, increase sun exposure gradually to avoid stress marks.
Design role: a tiny “anchor” piece that adds structure, texture, and a collector vibe.
Taxonomic note: In cultivation, this plant is commonly sold as Heliabravoa chende. In modern references, it is often treated under different genera — most commonly as Polaskia chende, and in some databases you may also see Myrtillocactus chende as an accepted combination. The trade name “Heliabravoa” is widely used, but the exact placement can vary by authority.
Native range & habitat (verified): Scientific literature referencing Polaskia chende places it within the cactus-rich region of Tehuacán–Cuicatlán (Mexico), a well-known center of cactus diversity. In habitat it is associated with warm, dry, high-light environments and mineral soils where drainage is fast.

Yes — full sun gives the best shape and spine definition. If it’s new to sun, acclimate gradually over 7–14 days.
Only when the mix is completely dry. In winter, water very rarely (or not at all in a cool, bright spot).
Keep it above about 5°C and protect it from frost, especially in a small pot.
A very free-draining cactus mix with a high mineral fraction (pumice/perlite/grit). Avoid heavy peat mixes that stay wet.
