Because one colour would be far too modest 🌈
Family: Crassulaceae • Pot diameter: 8.5cm • Height: 15cm
Echeveria 'Rainbow' is one of the most striking pastel echeverias, with a symmetrical rosette and fleshy leaves that combine pink, cream, lilac and soft green tones. Its colouring is not static; it changes in intensity depending on light, season and growth rhythm, so each plant may show its own colour balance. The leaves are broad, gently curved and covered with a natural waxy coating that gives them a matte, velvety look while protecting their surface. It is ideal for very bright shelves, windowsills, small pots and refined succulent compositions where a plant with a clean rosette, soft colour and truly premium presence is needed.
Place it in a very bright position, ideally near a window with plenty of natural light or in a sheltered outdoor spot with gentle morning or afternoon sun. Echeveria 'Rainbow' needs excellent drainage and a pot that dries properly between waterings, because its fleshy leaves and rosette do not like permanent moisture. In low light, it may lose its compact form, become greener and stretch. In strong summer sun, especially after staying in a protected space, adjustment should be gradual so the pale leaves do not get marked.
Composition goal: a bright dry-style planting with pastel colour, a clean rosette and plants that share needs for light, aeration and fast drainage.
Taxonomic history: Echeveria 'Rainbow' belongs to the family Crassulaceae and is cultivated as a pastel, multicoloured form often associated in trade with the well-known Echeveria 'Perle von Nürnberg' group because of its rosette shape, colour tones and leaf form.
Natural group: Echeverias are mainly linked with drier, sunny regions of the Americas, with a strong presence in Mexico and neighbouring areas. This natural background explains the need of 'Rainbow' for strong light, fast drainage and watering only after the substrate has dried well.
Naming: The name 'Rainbow' describes the multicoloured rosette, where pink, cream, lilac and green tones appear in different intensity from leaf to leaf and from season to season. Its appearance can change noticeably with light, temperature and the maturity of new growth.
Variety character: Echeveria 'Rainbow' stands out for its symmetrical pastel rosette and for the sensitivity of its pale leaves to strong sun and excess moisture. Its ornamental value lies in the subtle colour range, the matte leaf surface and the clean geometry of the rosette.

Yes, it needs a very bright position to keep a compact rosette and stronger pastel tones. Strong summer sun requires gradual adjustment.
Water only when the substrate has dried well. Avoid water sitting inside the rosette, because the pale leaves can get marked or rot.
Its tones are influenced by light, temperature and season. In more light it may become pinker or more lilac, while in low light it often becomes greener and more open.
Echeverias are generally considered non-toxic. Even so, it is best to avoid leaf consumption, especially by pets that tend to chew plants.
