Echeveria 'Gilo x Raindrops' is one of those echeverias made for close-up viewing: a compact rosette, thick leaves with a clean sculptural line and a distinctive “raindrops” texture — small raised bumps that give the plant a three-dimensional effect. It combines a full-bodied shape with a premium, collectible presence that fits beautifully in bright spots and succulent arrangements. Give it steady, strong light and it will keep a tighter form with a more expressive leaf surface.
Place it somewhere with abundant light throughout the year. If it receives direct sun, choose morning or late afternoon exposure and keep it protected from the hottest summer hours. In winter, do not leave it in temperatures below 10°C.

Taxonomic background: The genus Echeveria belongs to the family Crassulaceae and includes many rosette-forming species that have become the basis for hundreds of cultivated hybrids.
Natural range & spread: Natural Echeveria species come mainly from Mexico and neighbouring regions, where they grow in rocky, well-draining substrates. Their global spread developed through nurseries and succulent enthusiasts, with extensive hybridisation in cultivated forms.
Naming & meaning: “Raindrops” is used in cultivation for forms with characteristic raised bumps on the leaves, reminiscent of droplets. “Gilo x Raindrops” indicates a hybrid cross involving parent lines known in cultivation under these names.
Selection & propagation: This is a cultivated hybrid selection focused on a strong rosette form and the distinctive “raindrops” texture. To preserve its traits, it is propagated vegetatively, mainly from leaves or offsets when produced, so new plants remain clonally consistent.

It needs plenty of light, but hot midday sun is best avoided, especially in summer. Morning or late afternoon sun is ideal.
Only when the soil has dried completely. In spring and summer, this may be around once a week depending on light and temperature; in autumn and winter, watering should be greatly reduced.
It is usually a light issue: in lower light, the rosette becomes looser and opens up. With stronger light, it keeps a more compact form.
