Self-watering · Wick System

CUBE Color

A small, award-winning cube that keeps fresh herbs organized, elegant, and ready for the kitchen. The discreet fabric texture and clean square shape fit easily on a windowsill, countertop, or shelf, while the wick system uses the existing nursery pot as is — no repotting and no unnecessary mess.

2 sizes Wick system No repotting Suitable for herbs Indoor use

14 or 17 cm Outer width

0.4–0.7 L Water reservoir

Ø10–15 cm Nursery pot

20–25 cm Maximum plant height

The CUBE Color 16 corresponds to outer dimensions of 17 × 17 × 16 cm.

LECHUZA Wick System

The nursery pot goes in as it is — the wick handles the connection

The provided wick passes through a drainage hole at the base of the nursery pot. Its upper part comes into contact with the substrate, and the lower part reaches the reservoir, transferring moisture to the roots. This way, there is no waiting period for the roots to reach the water, as in direct planting systems.

You do not remove the plant from the nursery pot and you do not fill the outer planter body with soil.
Choose the CUBE size according to the nursery pot diameter: Ø10–12 cm or Ø13–15 cm.
The water-level indicator shows the current water level in the reservoir.
The amount and frequency of replenishment are always adapted to the specific plant and its location.

Straight from the nursery to its new place

The plant stays in its nursery pot. You place the wick, put the nursery pot inside, and the setup is complete in a few minutes.

Moisture from the water reservoir

The wick transfers water to the substrate and the indicator makes it easy to check the available water level.

Small footprint, clean look

The square shape makes good use of the countertop or windowsill, and the matte texture discreetly hides the nursery pot.

Which CUBE Color size do you need?

Measure the diameter of the existing nursery pot before choosing a size.

Ready in four simple steps

No soil, PON layer, or transplanting is needed.

01 · Check the size

The nursery pot should be within the range Ø10–12 cm for the 14 or Ø13–15 cm for the 16.

02 · Thread the wick

Insert it from below, through a drainage hole of the nursery pot.

03 · Put the nursery pot

Lower the nursery pot into the inner insert, without pressing or folding the wick.

04 · Add water

Fill the water reservoir and use the water-level indicator for the next refill.

Award-winning design

Matte fabric texture, without visual noise

The fine embossed surface gives more depth than a simple plastic planter, while the geometric shape remains calm and easy to combine. The series has been awarded the Red Dot Award.

For herbs in the kitchen

Suitable for plants used in cooking

The system is suitable for use with plants intended for consumption and is designed for pre-potted herbs. Basil, mint, parsley, and other small plants stay within easy reach.

Where each size fits

14Narrow windowsill, small shelf, or corner of the counter, for typically small herb pots.
16Kitchen counter, table, or deeper windowsill, for larger nursery pots.

How to choose the right setup

01Measure the diameter at the top edge of the nursery pot.
02Make sure there are holes at the base so the wick can pass through.
03Choose a bright location that meets the needs of the specific plant.
04Do not consider the water reservoir a fixed program; check the plant and the indicator together.

Surface care

The matte texture cleans easily

Wipe dust and splashes with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges so that the textured surface remains even.

The soil does not go directly into the CUBE Color

This series is designed for use with the existing nursery pot and supplied wick. The outer planter body acts as a cover pot and water reservoir; unlike direct-planting LECHUZA models, it is not filled with a PON layer.

Frequently asked questions

What CUBE Color sizes are available on this specific page?

Greenleaf offers the CUBE Color 14 and 16. The 14 has outer dimensions of 14 × 14 × 13.5 cm and a reservoir of 0.4 L, while the 16 has outer dimensions of 17 × 17 × 16 cm and a reservoir of 0.7 L.

Which nursery pot fits each size?

The CUBE Color 14 accepts nursery pots with a diameter of approximately Ø10–12 cm, and the CUBE Color 16 accepts nursery pots of approximately Ø13–15 cm. Measure the diameter at the top edge before selecting.

Does the plant need to be transplanted?

No. The CUBE Color is designed so that the plant remains in the nursery pot. Soil is not placed directly into the outer planter body.

How is the wick placed?

You pass the wick from underneath through a drainage hole of the nursery pot so that the top part comes into contact with the substrate. Then you place the nursery pot into the inner slot of the CUBE Color.

When do I refill the reservoir?

Monitor the water-level indicator and the needs of the plant. When the water reservoir is empty, leave only the dry phase that suits the specific species and then refill it. Consumption varies with the plant, light, and temperature.

What does the All-in-One Set include?

Includes the CUBE Color outer planter body, the inner insert, the water-level indicator, and the wick. The plant and the nursery pot in which it is sold are not included.

Is it suitable for herbs used in cooking?

Yes. LECHUZA states that the system is food safe and has designed it for pre-potted herbs. Care, fertilizer, and location must always be suitable for the specific edible plant.
