What the name means:oshimensis refers to Oshima. In horticulture, this cultivar has been widely distributed as Carex hachijoensis 'Evergold', but in more modern databases and major nursery references it is treated as Carex oshimensis 'Evergold'.
Ornamental character: 'Evergold' was selected for its steady evergreen tuft and, above all, for its highly recognisable foliage: narrow, arching leaves with a bright golden-yellow stripe in the centre and green margins.
