The CANTO Slatestone high transforms the sculptural appearance of natural slate into a tall, clean columnar form. With a height of 56 or 76 cm, it elevates the plant into the visual field, provides vertical emphasis to an entrance, living room, balcony, or terrace, and occupies a square base of only 30 or 40 cm. The removable plant liner lifts out for easy planting and transport, while the authentic LECHUZA self-watering system provides a more controlled water supply.
Red Dot Design Award 2017The CANTO design family was honored for its cubic and columnar form.

LECHUZA Classic System
Water is stored below. The roots draw up what they need.
The provided LECHUZA-PON is placed over the separating base and creates the zone that delivers moisture to the roots. Once the initial rooting period is completed, the reservoir is filled through the special filling shaft, and the water-level indicator shows when the water reaches MAX or MIN.
The self-contained plant liner is removed from the outer planter body and is easily transported by the built-in handles.
For the first few weeks, water from above, as in a conventional planter.
After rooting, fill the water reservoir from the filling shaft up to the MAX mark.
In an uncovered outdoor area, remove the drain plug so that excess rainwater can be removed.

01
The plant liner lifts out as one piece
The built-in handles allow you to plant, clean, or carry the arrangement without lifting the outer planter body.
02
Calmer summer
The 3 or 7 L water reservoir, depending on the size, reduces watering guesswork, while the water-level indicator clearly shows when a check is needed.
03
Award-winning architectural form
The CANTO design family won the Red Dot in 2017, combining clean lines, functionality, and durable, lightweight body.
From planting to autonomy in four steps
The correct start helps the roots fully utilize the Classic System.
01 · Prepare the plant liner
Place the Classic System components and the provided LECHUZA-PON as a base layer in the removable plant liner.
02 · Plant correctly
Add substrate suitable for the plant, leaving the filling shaft and the water-level indicator free.
03 · Install the liner
Lower the planted plant liner into the CANTO and place the planter on a stable, level surface.
04 · Water in two stages
Initially, you water from the top. When the roots reach the moisture zone, you use the water reservoir and the MIN/MAX indicator.
The Slatestone Difference
Slate in texture, not in weight.
The highly textured surface gives a natural, architectural character, but the body remains lightweight, impact-resistant, and suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The high-quality plastic is UV and weather-resistant.
For hot summer weather
The indicator helps — checking is still necessary
The water reservoir reduces the watering frequency, but consumption varies according to the type of plant, the sun, and the wind. In a heatwave or in a very exposed location, check the indicator and the substrate moisture daily.
Where it fits
01In a living room, entrance, or bright corner, directly on a stable floor that can support the total weight.
02On a balcony, terrace or covered outdoor area, alone or in a symmetrical pair.
03In professional spaces, where the clean columnar form functions as a vertical architectural element.
What can you plant
01Medium and large indoor plants with upright or bushy growth and final height within the recommended limit.
02Outdoor flowering plants, small ornamental shrubs, perennial compositions, and grasses with compatible needs.
03Herbs or mixed plantings, provided they have similar requirements in light, substrate, and water.

High or Low, the liner remains the same per size
The CANTO Slatestone low and high use a plant liner of the same dimension when comparing 30 with 30 and 40 with 40.
Same planting base
25 × 25 cm at 30 · 34 × 34 cm at 40
The planted liner can be moved from the high to the corresponding low of the same size, without the need for replanting.
The real difference
Low 30/40 cm · High 56/76 cm
The low functions like a solid cube, while the high gives vertical emphasis. Together they create a unified composition with the same texture and alternation of levels.
The availability of each color is shown in the product options.

Before using it outdoors
In an uncovered spot, remove the drainage cap from the bottom so that excess rainwater can be drained. For indoor use, the cap must remain properly closed. Always place the planted CANTO on a stable, flat surface that can support the total weight.
Frequently asked questions
What does the All-in-One Set include?
Includes the CANTO Slatestone High outer planter body, the removable plant liner with built-in handles, the Classic System with water-level indicator, and LECHUZA-PON for the base layer. The plant and additional substrate are not included.
Do I fill the reservoir immediately after planting?
For the first few weeks, water from above, until the roots reach the moisture zone. Then you can try the reservoir function: fill it about halfway and observe if the level drops in the following days. When the plant starts drawing water, use the filling shaft and the MAX indicator normally.
When do I refill the reservoir?
When the indicator reaches MIN, allow the appropriate dry phase for your plants and then fill up to MAX. Its duration depends on the type, location, temperature, and wind. On very hot days, check the indicator and the substrate moisture daily.
Is it suitable for outdoor use and rain?
Yes. The body is resistant to ultraviolet radiation and weather conditions. In uncovered outdoor areas, remove the drainage plug so that excess rainwater can escape.
Is the plant liner removable?
Yes. the self-contained plant liner has built-in handles, so that it can be planted, cleaned, and transported separately from the outer planter body.
What changes between the 30 and 40 sizes?
The 30 measures 30 × 30 × 56 cm, with a 3 L water reservoir, 11 L plant volume, plant liner of approximately 25 × 25 cm, planting depth of 20 cm and maximum plant height of 60 cm. The 40 measures 40 × 40 × 76 cm, with a 7 L water reservoir, 29 L plant volume, plant liner of approximately 34 × 34 cm, planting depth of 25 cm and maximum plant height of 100 cm.
What is the difference between the high and the low?
The low version is cubic, with a height of 30 cm at size 30 and 40 cm at size 40. The high version has the same width and depth but heights of 56 and 76 cm, respectively. The liner remains the same when comparing low and high of the same size.
