Buddleja davidii Butterfly Candy® Little Lila (‘BotEx 004’ PBR) brings the cool lilac tone that makes summer feel lighter. Lightly scented panicles rise above the rounded green crown, rich in nectar and butterfly movement. Its appearance is sweet without being childish, refined without feeling distant—a flowering cloud that catches the eye quietly.

Its compact dwarf form suits pots, small courtyards and front layers where generous flowering is wanted without tall bulk. Lilac forms a bridge between pink, blue and silver planting, making this an unusually flexible cultivar for romantic, contemporary or naturalistic compositions. Place it at the front of a sunny border, in its own pot or in a small group of three where lilac can repeat. The low crown does not hide planting behind it.

For a low mass, allow about 0.7–0.8m from centre to centre. In a mixed pot, keep companions very low around the edge so the buddleja is not crowded.

Butterfly Candy® Little Lila carries the code ‘BotEx 004’ and was bred at Kaatsheuvel in the Netherlands by Johannes Adrianus Maria Koot for Botanic Experience B.V. It arose from a controlled summer 2018 cross between proprietary seed parent 19019 and pollen parent 11013.

The seedling was selected in summer 2019 and first propagated in August that year. US Plant Patent PP34,378 was granted on 28 June 2022.
