Care
Suitable for bright indoors and on warm vines can also be planted outdoors in bright locations out of direct sunlight. Needs high levels of moisture during the growing season but needs caution against overwatering and the soil should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
It is important that begonias are watered with good quality water. 'Hard water' with a high concentration of salts can cause drying around the periphery of the leaves as begonias have no mechanisms to eliminate excess water salts. In nature, they thrive in areas with heavy rainfall and no salts in the water they receive. When watered with inappropriate water, they move it to the periphery of their leaves where it evaporates, leaving salts in the leaf pores. This concentration of salts leads to browning of the leaves and drying. In cases where the tap water is high in salts, watering should be done with filtered or rainwater. If this is not possible, it is advisable to collect the tap water and leave it for 2-3 days before using it for watering.
