Aloe Medivera® ‘Tropical’ is the boldest colour expression in the modern range, combining a compact rosette with strong variegation running through sturdy leaves. Green and cream bands create a crisp tropical rhythm, while the symmetrical arrangement keeps the appearance disciplined, fresh and instantly recognisable. Its pattern remains striking without becoming visually chaotic.
This is more than a differently coloured Aloe: it is a documented award-winning cultivated selection with a clear commercial identity. ‘Tropical’ combines collector interest, contemporary styling and the complete presence expected from a true statement plant. It looks impressive alone and becomes even stronger beside monochrome rosettes that allow its pattern to take centre stage.
Three defining details that turn its botanical identity into real presence for a collection and interior.

‘Tropical’ has received recognition in professional horticultural evaluations.
A dense rosette combines bold colour with a controlled modern silhouette.
Why you’ll love it: it brings award-winning variegation and modern breeding to an Aloe that feels anything but ordinary.
Give it a central position in plain charcoal, white or deep green ceramic. A quiet background lets the cream bands dominate.
Pair it with plants that genuinely share its light, substrate and seasonal rhythm. Separate pots keep care precise for each one.
Very bright exposure with gentle direct sun after gradual acclimation.
Water after the mix dries completely, keeping water out of the rosette.
A warm, airy environment protected from frost and prolonged cold.
Ingesting Aloe may cause gastrointestinal problems and sap may irritate; keep it away from children and animals.
Provide a very bright position and introduce direct sun gradually. Correct intensity keeps the rosette compact and its pattern clear.
Water thoroughly when the mix is fully dry and let excess escape. Do not leave water between leaf bases.
Air movement prevents persistent moisture in the rosette. Avoid enclosed positions and repeated misting.
Protect from frost and cold wet weather. In winter maintain stronger light and longer drying intervals.
Choose a porous succulent mix with immediate drainage, modest organic matter and stable mineral material.
A dilute balanced low-nitrogen feed in active growth is sufficient. Repot without burying the neck and remove only fully dry leaves.
Medivera® is an Amigo Plant breeding programme begun in 2016. A first prototype appeared in 2019 and the range entered the European market in the early 2020s.
‘Tropical’ is the distinct variegated selection in the range and was introduced as a compact improved Aloe vera type. It received public and jury recognition in a Royal FloraHolland evaluation.
The Aloe vera base belongs to Asphodelaceae and is native to the Hajar Mountains of northern Oman. The exact selected genealogy of ‘Tropical’ remains proprietary.
From natural habitat to care: Dry mountain ancestry in the Aloe vera base and less photosynthetic cream tissue explain the combination of strong but acclimated exposure, full drying and protection from abrupt scorch.
Leaf interiors store water in specialised tissues.
Stomata open mainly at night, limiting water loss.
Small marginal teeth are a stable morphological feature of the rosette.
Cream bands contain less chlorophyll than green tissue, contribute less to photosynthesis and are more sensitive.
