The high coir and vermiculite base keeps moisture available, while husk chips and bark prevent the mix from turning into a compact mass.

The base of the mix

2.5 parts coco coir, 1.5 parts worm castings, 3 parts vermiculite, 1 part coconut husk chips and 2 parts orchid bark, with small amounts of activated carbon and lava gravel, plus organic nutrients.

2.5 parts coco coir: Creates a stable base that distributes moisture.
1.5 parts worm castings: Add bioactive organic matter and gradual nutrition.
3 parts vermiculite: Retains water for plants that dislike abrupt drying.

Use it straight from the package in a pot with drainage and keep conditions steady after repotting.

01Remove loose old material

Lift the plant carefully and inspect roots and rhizomes without unnecessary pulling.

02Add a base layer

Place some Alocasia Mix in the bottom and position the rhizome at approximately the same depth.

03Fill without firm compaction

Fill around the roots and settle the plant by lightly tapping the pot.

04Water evenly

Wet the full mix after repotting and allow excess water to drain away.

Avoid abrupt changes in care

Keep the mix lightly moist, not saturated, and maintain light, temperature and room humidity as steadily as practical.
