A slow growing but very hardy variety of Agave, considered to be one of the most beautiful and desirable varieties. Extremely varied with different leaf shades.
Leaves are dark green with a white outline and small black spines at the tips.
This plant was discovered in 17ο century where its fibres were used for clothes and ropes and for making a tequila-like drink.
It is suitable for rock gardens, for planting in cactus and succulent arrangements, for Mediterranean gardens and for decorative pots.
Maximum plant height: 30 cm and diameter 45 cm.
Very hardy variety, tolerates drought but grows faster if there is sufficient water in summer.
Needs substrate with good drainage and positions in semi-shade or full sun. It prefers some protection from the very hot afternoon Summer sun, however.
In Winter it needs to be kept dry with temperatures above 0°C, but will tolerate lower temperatures (-10°C), especially when not watered.
Fertilization should be applied only twice a year, once in April and once in July, with a liquid fertilizer rich in potassium.
A slow-growing succulent plant of a rosette shape. It is one of the most collected species in this genus for its beauty and its particularity.
It has dark green leaves, thick and rigid, characterized by longitudinal white margins, which delimit each leaf, like a mini-variegation.
One of its strengths is its resistance to cold, which makes it easy to grow even for beginners.
