If you are looking for an agapanthus that works overtime, you found it 💙
Pot diameter: 17 cm • Height: 60 cm
Agapanthus 'Su Casa'® immediately catches the eye with its combination of compact growth and rich blue flowering. The flower stems stay relatively short, yet appear in large numbers, creating a full, balanced look that feels impressive without becoming bulky. The variety flowers very early, grows quickly and fills the pot beautifully, making it an excellent choice for terraces, entrances, low borders and spaces where you want clean form, strong colour and reliable summer presence.
Place it in a sunny position or light partial shade, somewhere with enough light for strong flowering. Thanks to its compact height, it works beautifully in entrance pots, on terraces, along pathways and in front or middle border zones. Its clean form suits contemporary gardens, while the rich blue flowering adds intensity without making the composition feel heavy.
Taxonomic background: The variety is sold commercially as Agapanthus 'Su Casa'®, while its official registered name is Agapanthus '19005' (PBR) Su Casa. It belongs to the genus Agapanthus, a group of perennial ornamental plants originating from South Africa, known for their spherical flower heads and resilient presence in pots and borders.
Selection site & breeding programme: ‘Su Casa’ was selected in Belgium through an extensive breeding programme that evaluated more than 20,000 seedlings. The aim was to create an agapanthus with a very high number of flower stems, fast growth, good plant health and a compact form suitable for modern pots and smaller gardens.
Selection & differentiation: From this programme, the clone named ‘Su Casa’ stood out thanks to its very early flowering, fast pot coverage and impressive flower production from a young age. The variety is considered the blue “sibling” of 'Mi Casa', with which it forms a highly useful and visually cohesive series.
Main characteristics: ‘Su Casa’ stands out because each new leaf shoot can produce 2–3 flower stems, creating a very rich result in relation to the plant’s size. Reaching a final height of around 60 cm including the flowers, it offers a full look without excessive bulk, making it especially practical for pots, terraces and clean-lined plantings.
Protection & distribution: The variety is protected by plant breeders’ rights, with protection number PVR EU70388. Stable vegetative propagation preserves its distinctive characteristics, such as early flowering, compact growth and abundant flower stem production.
