Composition

A moisture-stable yet chunky composition for fleshy roots

The high coir and vermiculite base keeps moisture available, while husk chips and bark prevent the mix from turning into a compact mass.

The base of the mix

2.5 parts coco coir, 1.5 parts worm castings, 3 parts vermiculite, 1 part coconut husk chips and 2 parts orchid bark, with small amounts of activated carbon and lava gravel, plus organic nutrients.

  • 2.5 parts coco coir: Creates a stable base that distributes moisture.
  • 1.5 parts worm castings: Add bioactive organic matter and gradual nutrition.
  • 3 parts vermiculite: Retains water for plants that dislike abrupt drying.
  • 1 part coconut husk chips: Creates larger air channels around the rhizomes.
  • 2 parts orchid bark: Supports the chunky structure and limits compaction.
  • Small amount activated carbon: Supports a cleaner root environment.
  • Small amount lava gravel: Adds stability and small persistent pores.
  • Added organic nutrients: Complete the built-in nutrition.

Husk chips and orchid bark maintain oxygen spaces in a high-moisture mix.

03

Bioactive nutrition

Worm castings and organic nutrients support approximately the first 180 days.
