Dark red heart… because the drama belongs on the petals 🎭
Family: Rosaceae • Pot size: 3 L • Height: 40 cm
The ‘Babylon Eyes’ series is considered one of the most eye-catching modern roses: compact growth, masses of multi-tone blooms with a striking central “eye”, glossy foliage, excellent disease resistance, and a long flowering season from March/April until late autumn. Beyond garden beds, they are also ideal for decorative pots, and since their launch they have received multiple awards at exhibitions and competitions. Rosa Babylon Eyes® 'Diva' produces red-violet flowers with a dark red heart (“eye”) that instantly grabs attention, while staying neat and compact in a pot—so you get “lots of blooms, little stress”.
Choose a bright spot with sun or strong partial shade. More light means more frequent and fuller flowering. If summer sun is harsh and reflective, a little afternoon protection helps the blooms last longer. Priority: good airflow and a free-draining soil mix.
Role in a composition: the dramatic colour lead with a bold central “eye”.
Taxonomic background: Rosa belongs to the family Rosaceae. Babylon Eyes® roses are modern shrub roses bred for repeat flowering and improved foliage health.
Habitat & genetic influence: The signature “eye” (eye/blotch) is linked to genetic influence from Rosa persica (also known as Hulthemia persica), a species naturally showing a central blotch on the petals.
Naming (etymology): “Babylon Eyes” refers to the strong central marking. 'Diva' gets its name from its stage-ready presence: colour plus an “eye” that commands attention instantly.
Selection & release: The breeding goal is a compact shrub habit, flowering in flushes, and better disease resistance. Propagation is vegetative (grafting/cuttings) to keep the “eye” and cultivar identity stable.

For the richest flowering, it needs lots of light and ideally several hours of sun. In very hot spots, a little afternoon partial shade helps blooms last longer.
Water when the top layer of soil dries out. In pots it needs more frequent watering than in the ground, but avoid waterlogging.
A basic prune in late winter/early spring helps it fill out and flower more strongly. During the season, removing spent blooms keeps flowering active.
Yes—its compact habit makes it ideal. The key is good drainage and consistent watering, especially in warm months.
