Nandina domestica Obsessed (‘Seika’PBR) EU 36059 - Nandina
Pot diameter: 17cm, Height: 30-35cm.
Award-winning variety (Silver Medal Plantarium 2011).
The colors of the leaves vary depending on the season.
It grows slowly and creates a wonderful compact bush with very attractive deep red, fiery coloration in the leaves.
The new growth in Spring is bright red, while in Summer and Autumn the leaves take on a deep red color. In Summer, it produces star-shaped white flowers, while its airy foliage gives it an appearance similar to that of bamboo. In Winter, the colors are more subdued.
Compact variety with upright growth, maximum height 60cm and diameter 50cm. Prefers positions with sun or partial shade.
Prefers rich, moist soils with good drainage but adapts to almost all types of soils except for marshy ones. Once established, it requires zero maintenance and occasional watering during dry periods. It is not affected by insects and diseases and is resistant up to -18°C.
It can be planted either individually or in groups and in compositions with other plants. Suitable for planting in decorative pots as well. It is pruned in Spring to promote new growth.
Maximum height: 70cm, Diameter: 60cm.
Extra: Variety discovered by April Hering and Adeiana Garza in Texas, USA, as a natural mutation of the 'gulf stream' variety.
Tip: Like all Nandinas, prefer acidic soil for its planting.
