Capi Rectangular Rib ivory combines the low, elongated form of a contemporary planter with the organic relief of the Rib series. The thin horizontal lines seem to move gently on the surface, while the bright ivory shade highlights the green without visually weighing down the space. It is particularly beautiful with repeated plantings or with a free composition of different heights, creating a clean border on a terrace, courtyard or entrance.
The Rib design is inspired by thin reeds that move with the wind. Instead of perfectly straight, mechanical grooves, the surface forms fine irregular lines that change subtly with the light. In the rectangular planter, the horizontal rhythm emphasises the length and gives the ivory finish a natural, handmade character.

UV resistanceSuitable for exposure to light outdoors.
Frost resistanceWith free drainage and no frozen stagnant water.
Lightweight constructionRobust appearance with a weight noticeably lower than a comparable ceramic pot.
Linear plantingCarex, Liriope or Festuca in repetition, for a calm rhythm and clean border along a terrace.
Mediterranean compositionLavandula, Santolina and Thymus at different heights when the position offers the sun and drainage they need.
Where it looks bestOn a low wall, entrance, balcony or courtyard, where the elongated form can subtly delimit the space without obscuring the view.
The choice and number of plants depends on the final growth, their root system and site conditions. Plants, substrate and drainage materials are not included.

Outdoor construction with drainage at the base; the hole or holes must remain free
Resistance
UV- and frost-resistant, with proper drainage and no standing water
Placement
On a flat, stable surface and slightly raised where necessary for unobstructed water flow
Planting guide
Correct preparation for outdoor use
Proper layering allows excess water to drain freely from the base. In the schematic section that follows, each number corresponds to a specific layer or drainage point.

Direct planting in the rectangular planter
Schematic section of Capi Rectangular Rib; not to exact scale. The full geotextile and the small hole mesh are two different elements.
1
About 2/3 suitable substrate around the plants.
2
Water-permeable geotextile across the cross-section, above the LECA.
3
About 1/3 pure LECA for free movement of water.
4
Small piece of water-permeable mesh only above each hole.
5
Free drainage from the existing hole or holes in the base.
Place the planter in its final position, on a flat and stable surface, before filling it.
Check the base holes and cover each one with just a small piece of water-permeable mesh so it doesn't clog.
Add about 1/3 of pure LECA and cover the entire surface with water-permeable geotextile.
Add suitable substrate, place plants at the correct height and fill without over compacting.
Water and confirm that it drains freely from the base.
For frost protection: keep drainage free and raise the pot slightly where necessary so it doesn't retain water that might freeze.
Important for frost resistance: the indication frost resistant presupposes proper outdoor use. No water should remain trapped inside the pot or under the base. When it's full, don't drag it; empty it or lift it evenly before moving it.
Cleaning the Rib surface
Remove the dust from the grooves with a soft brush.
For more stubborn dirt, use a damp cloth and mild soap.
Avoid abrasive sponges, a pressure washer at close range and strong chemicals.
Drainage & movement
Check regularly that the holes are not blocked by soil or roots.
Use fixed pot feet where the surface blocks the flow of water.
After planting, lift the planter by its body, never by the rim alone.
Frequently asked questions
What series of Capi does it belong to?
OFI962 belongs to Capi's Nature Rib Outdoor collection, with a horizontal textured surface inspired by thin reeds moving in the wind.
Is it suitable for indoor use?
Capi classifies this model in the Outdoor collection. It is designed for outdoor use with free drainage and is not presented as a watertight indoor decorative plant pot.
Does it have drainage at the base?
Yes. The Outdoor collection has drainage at the base. Before planting, check that each hole is open and cover each one with a small piece of water-permeable mesh so that it does not block.
Can I plant directly into the pot?
Yes. The elongated form is suitable for direct planting as long as the correct substrate is used and the drainage remains free.
Where did the Rib design come from?
Capi describes Rib as a rhythmic surface inspired by thin reeds moving in the wind. Horizontal lines give natural movement to the rectangular form.
What does it need to withstand frost?
The planter should drain freely, with no water left to freeze inside or beneath the base. Keep the holes clean and raise it slightly off the ground where needed.
