Alstroemeria Inticancha® 'Romance' is the red choice in the series: intense, deep red blooms that deliver a clean, bold impact in pots, on patios and in the garden. It flowers continuously from spring into autumn (Mar–Oct), with a tidy compact habit and sturdy stems that keep the plant upright and well-shaped. It’s ideal when you want long-lasting colour without high maintenance — a plant that keeps looking “fresh” for months.
⭐ What makes the Inticancha® series special:
Inticancha® are “patio” alstroemerias with compact growth and continuous flowering from spring through autumn. Strong stems hold the blooms upright and travel well, while the Sun Series breeding makes them more heat-tolerant than many “sensitive” varieties — ideal for balconies, terraces and bright borders.
Choose a spot in full sun or bright partial shade. In very hot, south-facing positions, a little afternoon shade helps to keep the blooms looking fresher. Use a light, free-draining mix so the rhizome can develop without sitting in permanent moisture. It’s perfect for pots and patios, but performs just as well in the garden.
Design goal: a stable red focal point with easy, compatible partners and shared growing needs.
Taxonomic background: The genus Alstroemeria (family Alstroemeriaceae) is known for long flowering periods and resilient blooms. Modern patio varieties are hybrids bred for compact shape, strong stems and reliable colour.
Habitat & distribution: Wild species come from South America (notably Chile and Brazil). Their rhizomatous biology allows them to store energy and return with new flowering waves.
Naming & series: The Inticancha® line is a patio series (Mar–Oct) with compact growth and high ornamental value. 'Romance' is the red selection in the series, designed to deliver bold, clean colour in pots, on patios and in garden borders.
Selection & propagation: In production data it appears as breeder line tesromance, with variety stability recorded under VBN code 372612. Like other patio alstroemerias, it is propagated vegetatively (rhizome division / professional nursery propagation) so colour, compact habit and flowering performance remain consistent.

Full sun or bright partial shade. In brighter spots it holds stronger colour and a longer flowering season, while in very hot positions a touch of afternoon shade helps.
Water when the top layer of mix has dried slightly, keeping it evenly moist but never constantly soaked. Always empty excess water from saucers or cachepots.
Repot into a container around 17–21 cm, ideally when active growth starts. Plant one per pot, centred, and cover the rhizome lightly without over-compacting the mix.
In cold weather, the top growth may reduce or die back and then return from the rhizome in spring. In pots, protect the root zone from prolonged frost and excessive winter wet.
